Ganesha
Ganesha is the son of Lord Shiva and Parvati. He was created by Parvati by the dirt of her body. She named this boy Ganesha.Ganesha One day when Parvati went to take a bath she instructed Ganesha to guard the entrance of the palace and not let anybody. Thus saying she handed over a long thick stick to Ganesha and went away.

After sometime Lord Shiva came and he wanted to enter but Ganesha wouldnot allow him to enter without his mother`s permission Shiva told him that he was Parvatis husband but still Ganesha wouldnot let him go in. In a fit of rage Shiva cut off his head and he died.

As soon as Parvati heard about her sons death she was filled with sorrow and requested her husband to get back her son so then Shiva cut the head of a elephant an fixed it on the slain head of Ganesha thus turning him into life.

GaneshaGanesha was a very obedient child and he loved his parents. He was very educated and was equally powerful. He was loved by all.

Ganesha is considered to be the God who is the remover of every obstacle. So he is also called Vighnharta. He is prayed during Gannet Chaturthi with a lot of pomp and show.
